The Club
The GOSPBC was established in 1990 to promote the
breed and help breeders. With members in the UK, France, America and
Poland, it is very proactive in fulfilling its objectives. The club
is managed by an elected committee (click here
for details) and has a full constitution with regular AGMs. |
A free access Forum for
all those interested in GOS pigs was launched in September 2005 and
is hugely successful both for helping enquirers find the answers to
their problems and generally keeping everyone in contact. The sales
section is also proving to be a fantastic free service for club
members who want to sell pigs - it works!
Over the coming few months, you can expect to see the website
completely updated, in terms of content and design. We hope to make
this an informative and interactive place for members and
enthusiasts, so members of the committee will be adding and updating
the news and announcements below on a regular basis.
- Publication of its quarterly newsletter, Spot Press
, featuring news, views and advice.
-
Organisation of social events countrywide to bring members together.
-
Organisation of the Southern and Northern England championships.
-

shows in Britain.
-

Did You Know?
The Uley Brewery (www.uleybrewery.com), a small independent based near Dursley in Glos. offers excellent ales such as Old Spot Prize Ale,
Pig's Ear, Hogs Head and their strongest, Pigor Mortis! Naturally,
their labels feature an illustration of a GOS pig. Another alcoholic
beverage featuring the GOS is Pig's Nose Scotch Whisky (http://www.spencerfieldspirit.com) from Dowdeswell's of Oldbury-on-Severn. According to the label, "Tis said
that our Scotch is as soft and smooth as a pig's nose". |
