| It at times like the present that you do really start to question your sanity visa vie keeping pigs. Our snow arrived on the 17th December overnite so we're into day 22!! Thankfully because of the wet weather in November we had already moved all the pigs into buildings around the farmyard. At the moment, as i'm sure you're all finding, its a running battle to keep them bedded up and their water flowing. I dread to think how many gallons of warm water i've lugged from the house to melt ice on pipes and troughs. We've even had to take sugar beets into the house to thaw out before shredding them. We have also had to put up a heat lamp for two little weaners we got over the Xmas holidays, -12 degrees here this morning. I've got my fingers crossed for a thaw as we havea litter due in ten days time, i've told Ruby to cross her legs and pray for warmer weather!! Hope you're all coping too. Take care out there. |
