If you click on the link GOS has given you above you can down load the entry form from there, only thing is entries closed on 2nd July. but worth giving them a ring to see if will take late entries. If they have not gone to print you may be lucky. |

I rang Voyce Pullen this morning and they were very happy to accept my entries. They said that even if vendors miss the catalogue deadline, the autioneers will accept entries right up until the last minute - it is in everyones interest to be able to sell stock at this sale. Hope this helps Helen |

I now have details of the registered GOS appearing in the sale catalogue. As yet, there have been no late entries that aren't catalogued: Sows (2) Liz Best - 2 x Dolly sows
In-pig Gilts (9) Judith Sims - 3 x Princess gilts Butts Farm - 1 x Bluebell gilt John Lightfoot - 2 x Dolly + 1 x Ellen gilt
Maiden Gilts (13) Judith Sims - 2 x Princess gilts Stonegrove Livestock - 4 x Star Antoinette gilts Butts Farm - 1 x Dahlia gilt Sharon Barnfield - 1 x Dahlia gilt Jonathan Crump - 1 x Dolly + 1 x Countess + 3 x Princess Joan gilts
Boars (3) Butts Farm - 1 x Sambo (Snr boar) + 1 x Sambo (Jnr boar) Jonathan Crump - 1 x Rufus (Jnr boar)
All pedigree GOS pigs forward will be card graded by the Club and those marked 'S&S' in the catalogue will be shown with Mrs Anne Nicholls judging.
There is an excellent opportunity to come and inspect pigs as potential breeding stock for your herd and compare and contrast before bidding.
There are other pigs there too plus cattle, sheep and poutlry. For full details request a catalogue from Voyce Pullin by emailing chris@voycepullin.co.uk |

Another largely successful event which attracted a lot of people and saw some pigs sell well while others were disappointing. Whilst there were plenty of people there, not many were buying.
Judith Sims from Somerset had three very nice in-pig Princess gilts sell at 500 gns each including this year's Champion of Champions and all three have relocated to North Yorkshire. One of John & Helen Lightfoot's Dolly gilts (from near Gloucester) made 430 gns and a young Patrick boar from Jonathan Crump (Stonehouse, Glos) made 250 gns. Some of the prices for some quite reasonable maiden gilts were disappointing although it also means that some buyers got bargains.
Nine in-pig gilts/sows sold for an average of 360 gns. Eleven maiden gilts (including three only around 14 weeks of age) sold for an average of 140 gns and three boars sold for an average of 183 gns. I suspect that those prices may compare quite well with other rare breed and BPA sales by the time the season ends.
What was nice was to meet a number of non-participating members who came along to support the event and learn a little more about their breed. These included Simon Beech from Wokingham (forever gratefully remembered by the judge, Anne Nicholls, after she locked herself out of her car), Caitlin Dean and her husband and family who came all the way up from Cornwall, John Corsan from Somerset who flies off to the Scilly Isles next week to claim his Grand Draw prize, and Julian & Julia Hasler from near Tetbury, Glos. Also to our star celebrity from Countryfile, Adam Henson, who was there with his father, Joe.
Thanks to Anne Nicholls and Judith Sims and family for carrying out the card grading and judging (Anne on her own) and to everyone who came along, vendors, buyers, et al.
Found this on the internet which is an independent account of events: http://johngrimshawsgardendiary.blogspot.com/2010/08/breeds-of-gloucestershire-sale.html |
