Would anyone please be able to give me a definition of free range pigs ie how many pigs should there be in a certain area to be able to call your meat free range. I cant seem to find this information even on the Defra website.
Many Thanks

If you go to SELLING PORK AND BACON and click on the sticky subject at the top of the list, there is a link to the recent BPEX Voluntary Code for Labelling Pork & Bacon. This covers the definitions of 'Free Range' but is vague on stocking densities etc. I suggest that once you have studied the code, you get on to BPEX to find out that information which they haven't published.
