Breed Standard Update

The BPA have updated the Standard of Excellenece for Gloucestershire Old Spots which will be effective for pigs born on or after 1st July 2009.

The change comes as an additional sentence at the end of the paragraph on COAT and the whole section now reads as follows:
'COAT - Silky and not curly. No mane bristles. Not less than one clean decisive spot of black hair on black skin. Black should not predominate.'

An example of a pig where black predominates will be posted here in due course as guidance for breeders. Please remember that this is not retrospective and applies only for pigs born on or after 1st July 2009.
