Southern Championships at Newbury Show

The last of the three Championships run by the Club and judged in the ring took place at the Royal County of Berkshire Show last Sunday the 20th September, which used to be known as the Newbury Show.

Pigs that had qualified from a number of shows in the South of England throughout the show season going back to the beginning of May, came together to be judged by Guy Kiddy from Bedfordshire. This is a popular pig show and there was a strong entry from most breeds. Guy had seven pigs before him to sort out and eventually gave the award to Judith Sims from Clevedon for her July gilt, Winterwood Princess 161. The Club's Vice-Chairman, Dave Overton, was on hand to present the trophy donated by the late Jim Sherriff and the special rosette and sash. The runner up was a gilt from Peggy Darvill's Toller herd.
